Post Election Message - Thank You

It's hard to characterize [the advisory vote] as a mandate."
-Governor Sarah Palin, Juneau Empire, 4/5/07

Dear Supporter,

Alaskans Together could not agree more with Governor Palin on how to interpret last week's statewide advisory vote. And it was with your help and support that the vote was so close. A 53-47 vote would not have been possible without the time and energy of thousands of supporters like you around the state of Alaska.

Thank you for your time and support during this battle.

In the less than three months since Alaskans Together formed, we have accomplished much to be proud of:

  • Over $100,000 was raised that let us wage an aggressive statewide media, direct mail, and voter contact campaign.
  • Hundreds of volunteers contacted thousands of voters around the state to educate them about the advisory vote and encourage them to vote NO.
  • The letters to the editor pages in all the major newspapers were filled with voices advocating a NO vote. Our voices far out numbered those from the other side.
  • Letters and opinion pieces from supporters were printed in newspapers in the Mat-Su, Barrow, Bethel, Kotzebue, and other smaller publications around the state.

By no means do we believe that last week's results will stop those who wish to deny healthcare benefits for domestic partners in their tracks. But with your help we were able to ensure that our voices were heard.

Thank you for all that you gave- your time, your money, and your votes!

Kindest regards,

Alaskans Together
