Letters to the Editor
Interested in writing a letter to the editor? The Editorial section is one of the most widely read sections of the newspaper and reaches hundreds, if not thousands, of readers. Letters to the Editor are a very important way to help our statewide campaign get its message out.
Letter to the Editor Writing Tips:
- Keep it short and focused.
- Make specific reference to the advisory vote.
- Be as factual as possible and highlight aspects of the issue that are important to you.
- Include your contact information (required) and highlight your connection to the community.
Suggested Talking Points:
- This vote is about whether or not Alaskans believe in equal pay for equal work.
- Now is not the time to take away health care benefits from any Alaskan workers or their children.
- This is about giving ALL workers equal access to health care for their families.
- The Advisory vote is a waste of time and money. The legislature needs to focus on getting the pipeline built and not sidetracked attempting to deny health care and retirement benefits to Alaskans.
- Our constitution is considered to be one of the best in the US. The Advisory Vote would clutter it with employment policies that ban benefits to certain classes of people.
